Amidst cheers and the roar of engines, the CFMOTO ADVENTURE RIDE-TransAmerica adventuring team, comprising 6 media members from Europe and South America, reached the capital of Peru. The crew ended the final 9-day trek, spanning 2230km, and marked the triumphant conclusion of the event thereby bringing an end to CFMOTO ADVENTURE RIDE's inaugural global riding activity.
CFMOTO ADVENTURE RIDE is a new scheme that aims to invite global customers and motorcycle enthusiasts to embark on a profound adventure along classic global motorcycle roads to deeply appreciate the fun and versatility of CFMOTO products while digesting CFMOTO ADVENTURE riding culture.
The inaugural fixture lasted 30 days (from April 12 to May 12) with a total length of 7531km and the route was divided into three stages, with six riders participating in each stage. The 700MT squad consisted of 12 media members from six countries, including Italy, France, Uruguay, Colombia, Peru, and Mexico. They rode the CFMOTO 700MT starting from the Atlantic port city of Buenos Aires, heading northward crossing Argentina, Chile, and Peru, and arriving at the Pacific coast city of Lima as the last destination.
During the one-month tour, the riders traversed the Pampas grasslands, the Andes mountains and journeyed through diverse landscapes including deserts, lakes, valleys, ‘basins’ and jungles, exploring the vast South American continent. Amidst the awe-inspiring natural beauty, the riders immersed themselves in the rich historical culture and distinctive human customs, gaining profound experiences along the way.
Second Stage: From Salta to Arequipa through Argentina, Chile, and Peru
Following the completion of the first stage of the lengthy ride-out in Argentina on April 23rd, six more media riders from Colombia, Italy, and France set out with great excitement from Salta to explore the northwestern region of the country, embarking on a 9-day trawl through Argentina, Chile, and Peru.
On the first day with the sturdy 700MT, the group passed via the northwestern city near the Andes – San Salvador de Jujuy. Riding along the winding mountain roads, they quickly arrived at the famous Quebrada de Humahuaca, a renowned dry valley.
This area, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, spans approximately 155km, with its western and northern sections bordering the Bolivian highlands and its eastern edge adjoining the Andes range. On one side, there are layers of reddish-brown, topography, while the other side offers an expansive highland grassland. As the setting sun casts its glow, the landscape is bathed in a magnificent golden hue, creating a spectacular scene.
As they rode the 700MT through the winding paths amidst the plateau and the valley, the riders were swallowed by the enchanting beauty, illuminated by the vibrant hues of the disappearing sun. They relished the awe-inspiring scenery and commented on the emotions that it created.
Embarking on the ride from Humahusaca, the contingent throttled onwards until they reached the vast white salt flats of Salinas Grandes. The majestic Andes mountains loomed in the distance. The journey was further enriched by occasional sightings of charming ‘natives’: the curious llamas added to the allure of the scenery. The riders couldn’t help but pause and bask in the breathtaking splendor before them, capturing the moment as an enduring memory.
The Argentine border town of Susques was up next and then the ride continued into northern Chile; all the while the CFMOTO 700MT didn’t miss a beat. Soon after, the Atacama Desert - located in the central-western region of South America – was within reach.
This vast salt desert, one of the driest places in the world, stretches for around 1000 kilometers between the Andes and the southern Pacific Ocean coast. That night, the riders rested in a small town, experiencing an unforgettable evening amidst the endless sands of the Atacama.
The following day, the route continued towards the Pacific coast. After more than three hours of riding, the team arrived to Tocopilla, a northern port city perched on the edge of the Pacific.
On one side, there were towering mountains while on the other beaches and fishing villages. Riding along the coastal road, they were greeted by the sea breeze. The crashing of waves interrupting the hum of the engine noise: it was invigorating and refreshing.
Crossing over hills and more arid terrain, the 700MT riding team landed in Codpa and then onto the beautiful coastal city of Arica on the fringe of the Pacific.
On April 28, the riders motored north along the coastline, crossing the Chilean border and entering Peru. After approximately four hours in the saddle, the 700MT expedition team successfully reached Arequipa, the second-largest city in Peru, concluding the second stage of the ‘TransAmerica’. An exciting exploration of Peru awaited them.
Third Stage: Exploring Mysterious Peru from Arequipa to Lima
On May 3, following a short break, the six riders embarked on the last stage of the tour eager to embrace the air, sights, sounds and people of Peru. Setting off from Arequipa, which sits at an altitude of over 2000 meters, they delved into the magnificent highlands, accompanied by peaks that scale and surpass 5500 meters.
The 700MTs took them through mountain and rivers, splitting the scattered villages. It didn't take long for the riders to reach Lake Titicaca, the highest lake in the world, nestled amidst the Andes at an altitude exceeding 3000 meters.
The pristine, mirror-like surface of the lake beamed the surrounding mountainous range upwards, creating a captivating and vivid panorama that left a lasting impression on all who saw it.
As the evening drew near, surrounded by the warm glow of the red skies, the riders relished the flavors of Peruvian cuisine flanked by watery views at a local farmhouse near Lake Titicaca. The next morning, with the dawn light, the 700MT exploration team rose early to head for the Cusco region in southeastern Peru.
Through the high towns of Macusani and Quince Mil locals greeted the riders warmly with waves and ‘hellos’. Along the way, herds of cattle and sheep occasionally joined the band, providing a distinctive rural riding experience!
Subsequently, the posse zoomed into Cusco. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site, this ancient city is situated in the Huatanay Valley at an altitude of around 3400 meters, walled by the Andwa. It is often referred to as the ‘cradle’ of the ancient Inca Empire.
The 700MT chimed around the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where the surroundings felt like a mysterious journey back to the 11th century: ancient rock walls, fortresses, and temples whispered tales of the splendid culture and rich history of the Inca Empire.
Onwards the adventure went; towards the Pacific coast and passing through Andahuaylas, Ayacucho, and Huancayo in the central highlands of Peru. More mountains, valleys and fresh lakes as the altitude dropped some 3000 meters before the crew ultimately sighted their destination: the coastal metropolis and capital of Peru, Lima.
Navigating the streets of Lima's historic district and visiting iconic landmarks such as Plaza de Armas, Lima Cathedral, and the Monastery of San Francisco brought out another characteristic of the 700MT to the fore and the ease of the touring experience. This was a stark contrast to the silence of the desert and the echo of the mountains but the machinery was equally at home through the traffic and bustle of urban life. The riders could marvel at the Baroque, Gothic, and Neoclassical architecture and the rich history of the colonial period.
Leaving the old city behind, they dropped into Lima's modern area, feeling the sea air and embracing the vibrant atmosphere of the bustling city as they rode along the Pacific coast.
The CFMOTO ADVENTURE RIDE-TransAmerica expedition created precious and unforgettable memories for each participant, allowing riders to embrace the enchantment of motorcycle touring and to feel a deep yearning for freedom, the thrill of the unknown, and the pursuit of buried dreams.
“I’m so glad to have been a part of it,” said Pedro Hignio from Peru. “I really enjoyed the landscapes, the beauty, the great people and the trip itself. Of course, I really liked the CFMOTO 700MT. It behaved very well at all moments, even at high altitude.”
The inaugural ‘TransAmerica’ ride concluded with praise and acclaim and gave extra energy and impetus for more CFMOTO ADVENTURE RIDE global events to come. This year, CFMOTO will host an array of international adventure riding activities, offering diverse experiences for motorcycle enthusiasts globally.
