CFMOTO ASPAR TEAM Achieves The 6th Podium of The Season

Máximo Quiles returned to the podium at the German Grand Prix. The rookie in the lightweight category put in an outstanding performance at Sachsenring, leading for several laps and fighting for victory until the final metres. With this second place, the Spanish rider has achieved his fourth podium in just seven races. His teammate Dennis Foggia finished eleventh after climbing 12+1 positions throughout the race. This result is also the 450th podium for Jorge Martínez “Aspar” and the Aspar Team.

The Moto3 race at the German Grand Prix started in dry conditions, although some areas were still wet in the early laps. The previous day's rain had reduced the amount of rubber on the track and, therefore, the grip. The CFMOTO Aspar Team riders had two very different scenarios, with Máximo Quiles in the front rows of the grid and Dennis Foggia at the back. The Spanish rider made a good start and maintained a high pace that allowed him to reach the podium positions. Quiles continues to learn with every race and, despite his limited experience in the world championship, he was once again one of the riders to beat throughout the 23 laps. The Moto3 rookie led the group for most of the race, although in the final laps he had to fight to earn a place on the podium. On the last lap, Quiles gave it his all to overtake his rivals and in the final corner he pushed hard to take second place and secure his fourth podium in seven races.

His teammate Dennis Foggia was hampered by his starting position at Sachsenring. The Italian was forced to fight his way up the field after failing to make it through Q1 yesterday, and he was able to overtake numerous riders to quickly reach the points zone. Not satisfied with this result, Foggia rode at a similar pace to the front group and continued to climb positions to finish eleventh, scoring new points that allowed him to reach the top 10 in the overall standings. Quiles, meanwhile, is sixth, 24 points behind second place.

The riders in the intermediate category faced a difficult race and constant changes in track conditions throughout the weekend influenced the final set-up of the bikes. Sunday's race was declared dry after a wet qualifying session that relegated Holgado and Alonso to the fifth and sixth rows of the grid. As a result, the CFMOTO Aspar Team riders, gave their all to make up positions from the start. Dani Holgado lost a few places in the early laps, but the Spanish rider went from strength to strength. Aware of the importance of consistency on this circuit, he was able to get back into the points zone and was aiming to finish in the top 10 again this weekend. However, the race was stopped earlier than expected due to a crash when he was twelfth, and he did not have the opportunity to continue climbing positions.

On the other hand, David Alonso felt good from the moment the lights went out, which allowed him to quickly make up positions. The reigning Moto3 world champion was able to stay calm in a very demanding race to find his own rhythm. Unfortunately, the Colombian was involved in an incident with five laps to go, when he was in eleventh position and another rider rejoined the track, unable to avoid him. The CFMOTO Aspar Team leaves Germany with mixed feelings and ready to contest the last race before the summer break next week.
