CFMOTO ASPAR TEAM Gets Double Podiums At Silverstone

David Alonso took his first podium in Moto2 in a race to remember at Silverstone Circuit. The CFMOTO Aspar Team rider stood up to the most experienced riders in the category to fight for victory until the final metres and finish third. The rookie returned to the podium at a circuit where he took his first victory in Moto3 in 2023 and became the first Colombian rider to finish on the podium in the intermediate category. Dani Holgado finished outside the points after being penalised on the last lap for exceeding the track limits and was eighteenth.

Sunday's racing started with the Moto2 riders contesting the first race of the day. With their eyes on the sky after the rain in the morning, the CFMOTO Aspar Team faced some tricky conditions in the first laps due to the presence of some wet areas. David Alonso, who started from fourth on the grid, got off to a good start and stayed in the front group. The Colombian rider showed a great pace from the first laps and remained in the top 5. Alonso showed great maturity throughout the 17 laps and made numerous overtakes to fight for the podium. With five laps to go, the Moto3 World Champion led the race after a double overtake and, from that moment on, the numerous changes of positions left everything to be decided on the last lap. Alonso increased the pace at this point to give his best, especially in a great last sector, in which he even tried to overtake to take the victory. In the end, he crossed the line in third position and took his first podium in the intermediate category, the first for the CFMOTO Aspar Team this season.

Dani Holgado also made a good start to stay in the top 10 for the first few laps. The Spanish rider took advantage of the good initial feelings to make up some places. Holgado remained in the front group until it split after the first half of the race. The CFMOTO Aspar Team rider, however, did not have the same feeling in the final laps and lost some positions, although he remained in the points. Unfortunately, Holgado finished in eighteenth place after he got penalised on the last lap for exceeding the track limits. Despite not scoring any points, Holgado remains the best Moto2 rookie and leaves Silverstone with a great learning experience.

While in Moto3, Máximo Quiles continues to make great strides. The young rider has achieved his first podium in the Moto3 World Championship after only three races. The CFMOTO Aspar Team rider fought for the victory until the last meters against the championship leader José Antonio Rueda. After a breathtaking last lap, Quiles was second, just 0.046 off the victory.

Máximo Quiles completed a great race in his first Grand Prix at Silverstone. The CFMOTO Aspar Team rider started from fourth position on the grid and, once the lights went out, he made a good start which put him in podium place before the first lap. The Spaniard maintained his position in a race in which the wind conditioned his riding and in which all the riders rode in a group and at a slow pace. Quiles quickly took the lead and managed the times well so as not to lose the leading positions at any time. In the final laps, Quiles wanted to go one step further and regained the lead with three laps to go. The newcomer to the category was able to fight off the more experienced riders, including Moto3 leader José Antonio Rueda. The two riders put up an intense fight in the final laps, with Quiles finishing second by a few thousandths of a second to take his first Moto3 podium in his third Grand Prix.
