The Malaysian Grand Prix had a bitter end for the Moto3 riders. After a serious incident between José Antonio Rueda and Noah Dettwiler on the formation lap, the lightweight class race was delayed for more than an hour and reduced to just ten laps. The soaring temperatures, with over 55 degrees on the track, put both bikes and riders to the test.
Once the lights went out, Máximo Quiles quickly reached the podium positions and tried to hold on to them, albeit fighting within a large group. The CFMOTO Aspar Team rider found himself involved in an intense battle in which there was no margin for error due to the low number of laps. The Spaniard, after a couple of scares, finally crossed the finish line in seventh place. Despite not securing a podium finish, this result earned him the Moto3 rookie of the year title, with 237 points and eight podiums, including two wins. He also maintains his chances of fighting for the runner-up spot with Ángel Piqueras with two races remaining.
Meanwhile, his teammate Joel Esteban was forced to make up positions from the back of the grid. The CFMOTO Aspar Team rider remained in the back of the pack and tried to reach the points positions, but the lack of grip prevented him from riding more freely and he had to settle for seventeenth.
Due to an unexpected change in schedule, the Moto2 race started after the MotoGP category. As a result, the riders in the intermediate category faced even higher temperatures than expected, which made tyre grip difficult and left no room for error. Sunday's race was finally contested over eleven laps, after a crash forced the race to be stopped on the first lap, with no consequences for the rider involved. Dani Holgado started from pole after securing his third pole of the season in Malaysia. The CFMOTO Aspar Team rider remained in second and tried to keep up with the leader. The Spaniard worked hard to maintain his position and avoid any mistakes that would cause him to lose more places. With four laps to go, he was overtaken by his teammate and fought for the podium, eventually falling to fourth place and crossing the finish line one tenth second behind third place.
His teammate David Alonso has gone from strength to strength and is showing great maturity in his first year in Moto2. The Colombian made a good start and remained in the top three from the moment the lights went out. The CFMOTO Aspar Team rider managed his tyres and rode at the limit, waiting for the right moment to overtake his teammate and finish in second place, securing his fourth podium of the year, his second in a row.
